Recruitment + Selection Calendar

Although the deadline for our active recruitment cycle has passed, we are always interested in hearing from motivated candidates. We encourage you to complete our candidate application form and return it along with your resume and a brief cover letter. Round 1 - Submit a Letter of Intent & Resume
Reviewed on a rolling basis, twice per month, until June 18, 2017
Candidates will fill out a general application form, write a letter of intent, and upload a resume.

Round 2 - Phone Interview:
Conducted on a rolling basis from late February through June.
Selected applicants will be invited for a 30 minute phone interview with a member of the Foster America team.

Round 3 - Essay:
Assigned following a successful phone interview, with a one-week deadline, from late February through June.
Those who pass the phone interview round will submit written responses to some short essay questions.

Round 4 - Video Interview:
Conducted from March through June.
Selected applicants will be invited to an hour-long interview with Foster America’s Executive or Deputy Director. They will also indicate preferences for specific fellowship projects, complete short answer questions to summarize their skills for their desired roles, and provide three references.

Round 5 - Selection Day & References:
July 17-18, 2017. Please save the dates.
Selected applicants will be invited to Selection Day in Washington, DC, a day-and-a-half event where finalists will be able to meet each other, complete group and one-on-one interviews, and meet leaders in the child welfare sector

Offer:
Early August 2017.
Finalists will be notified with a final decision. Final offers are contingent upon completion of the host agency’s hiring processes, likely including civil service exams and background checks.

Training + Placement:
September 2017.
Fellows will receive an intensive training prior to the start of their placement with the child welfare agency. Training and the start of the fellowship will take place in September 2017.
