Candidates will create a personal profile, complete an online form, and submit their letter of intent and resume. Several short answer questions and up to three references are also required.
Subsequent rounds of the interviewing process include a telephone interview with Foster America staff, video interview with an expert panel, and in-person selection day event in New York on Monday, July 18, 2016. During this process, writing samples and additional short-answer essay questions will be requested.
Selected candidates will be notified in late July, and offers will be contingent upon the successful completion of required civil service paperwork with the hiring jurisdiction. Candidates will apply to specific projects and locations during the course of the selection process.
Fellowship training begins September 12, 2016. The first week will be in Boston, the second in New York. Fellows are expected to reside with their cohort during the first week of training.
Fellows will begin their roles at their host agencies - either New York's Administration for Children's Services or the Allegheny (Pittsburgh) County Department of Human Services - at the end of September 2016. This is a full-time, one-year commitment with the option to for extend a second-year upon mutual agreement of the fellow, Foster America, and host agency.
